I grew up hating chicken wings. I remember being embarrassed to be seen eating them because I am the world’s messiest and clumsiest person, therefore I knew I would have sauce all over me. There’s something about turning 30 that really removes much of that caring about what others think of you. I mean, it’s not totally gone, but I can now eat wings in peace and live my life without worrying if I have a little of that glorious wings sauce somewhere on me! ;)

I have recently signed up for a Butcher Box subscription and as new members, they sometimes offer specials for signing up. Last month’s special was wings for life. Normally I wouldn’t have cared to have wings for life, but I figured this would be a good chance to come up with some fun wings recipes frequently, because as already stated, I would now have wings for life. As a member you can pay a little extra money sometimes to take part in the special, so that’s what I did! With my diet being all up in the air and changing every few weeks now as I try to manage my gut health and acid reflux, I had to come up with something that would fit pretty much any diet and would have that good rich saucyness that I love. And voila, you now have these orange teriyaki chicken wings. Normal teriyaki sauce has soy sauce, garlic, sugar, etc. This recipe removes the soy, sugar and garlic (low FODMAP) and replaces it with orange juice and my favorite, coconut aminos. I also recently bought an air fryer on sale at Target for $50. This was a cheap brand that I’d never heard of, but I was skeptical, so this is what I went with. And to my surprise, it works GREAT. I LOVE my air fryer. I haven’t perfected its use, but it’s a fun gadget to work with and try to figure out!
ANYWAY, on to the actual recipe!
